EV battery health FAQ
Managix answers the most common questions Australians ask about EV battery health, from what State of Health means to how a mobile test works in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Every test uses Moba CertifyPro, costs $175 plus GST and comes with a CARA approved certificate emailed the same day.
Understanding battery health
Battery State of Health tells you how much of its original capacity an EV battery still holds. Managix measures it with Moba CertifyPro for used EV and PHEV owners, buyers and dealers in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, so you know the condition of the most valuable part of the car.
What is battery State of Health?
State of Health (SoH) is the share of a battery's original capacity it can still hold, shown as a percentage. A new battery reads close to 100%. Managix reads SoH directly from the manufacturer's battery management system using Moba CertifyPro, in line with the CARA Approved standard, rather than estimating it from driving range.
What is a good SoH for a used EV?
There is no single number that suits every car. A used EV's battery is generally in good health when its SoH sits above the manufacturer's warranty threshold and is broadly consistent with the car's age and kilometres travelled. Our model pages explain what to look for on popular used EVs.

How fast do EV batteries degrade?
Degradation varies by model, age, kilometres, charging habits and climate. The heat in Brisbane has the potential to affect battery health, and cold temperatures may have an impact on battery health too. Because every car is different, the only reliable way to know is to measure the battery's State of Health.
Getting tested
Getting an EV battery health test with Managix is simple: book online and a mobile technician from NWG ADAS & Windscreens comes to your home, workplace or dealership in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. The scan is done on-site with Moba CertifyPro, and you get a certificate the same day.
How do I check EV battery health?
The most reliable way is a scan that reads State of Health from the manufacturer's battery management system. Book a Managix mobile visit and an NWG ADAS & Windscreens technician connects Moba CertifyPro diagnostics to the car on-site. You then receive a CARA approved State of Health certificate with a secure QR code.
How long does a test take?
The battery scan takes under 10 minutes on-site. The technician needs access to the vehicle and its keys. Your CARA approved State of Health certificate is then emailed to you the same day, so you can share it with a buyer, seller, dealer or financier straight away.
Do I need to drive the car?
No. The car does not need to be driven before or during the test. The scan reads the battery's State of Health from the manufacturer's battery management system while the technician is with the vehicle, and the car does not need a minimum charge before the test.
Certificates
Every Managix battery health test in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne ends with a CARA approved State of Health certificate. It is a 2-page document produced by Moba CertifyPro with a secure QR code, so buyers, dealers, financiers and insurers can check the result is genuine.
What does the certificate show?
The 2-page certificate shows the battery's State of Health read from the manufacturer's battery management system, along with the vehicle details and a secure QR code for verification. The same certificate is issued for full EVs and plug-in hybrids. You can view a sample certificate before you book.
Can buyers verify the certificate?
Yes. Every Managix certificate carries a secure QR code. A buyer, dealer, financier or insurer can scan it to confirm the certificate is genuine and has not been altered, which makes it easier to trust when it is shared with a private sale or attached to a used EV listing.
Do dealers and financiers accept it?
CARA approved certificates are now becoming the preferred standard for BEV and PHEV battery health testing in Australia. Each certificate can be verified with its secure QR code, and Managix works with dealers and fleet operators who test vehicles on-site before remarketing them.
Buying and selling
Buyers and sellers of used EVs in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne use a Managix battery health certificate to take the guesswork out of the battery. An independent, CARA approved State of Health reading helps buyers check before they pay and helps sellers show proof of condition.
Should I test before buying a used EV?
Yes. The battery is the most valuable part of a used EV, and a problem found after purchase can mean lower resale value or expensive repairs. A Managix test gives you an independent State of Health reading before you pay, and our technician can come to the seller's home or dealership.
Does a certificate increase resale value?
A certificate cannot guarantee a higher price, but it gives buyers verified proof of the battery's condition. CARA's Battery Health workgroup set its standard to facilitate remarketing and support residual values of used BEVs, and dealers can add the certificate to their listings to build buyer confidence.
